dc.description.abstractSemifluidization is a novel solid-fluid contact technique conceived in the late fifties. Over the last two-and-a-half decades considerable investigation has been made into the various aspects of the phenomenon which have been reported in the literature. In view of its unique usefulness, semifluidization will become increasingly important, specifically in the design of several physical and chemical systems. This review presents a concise picture of the various aspects of semi-fluidization (momentum, heat and mass transfer, design of reactors and industrial applications) for a better understanding of the phenomenon and to provide more rational approaches to the design of semifluidization systems.en
