The necessity of a generalized correlation for the prediction of the packed bed height in semifluidization is stressed. Methods available for calculating the same are reviewed. Based on experimental data, a dimensionless correlation has been developed for the variation of packed bed height with the semifluidization velocity. The values calculated by this method are compared with those observed experimentally and calculated by the method using material balance.en
