T of the three distinct mechanisms of heat transfer in fluidized beds namely (i) fluid-to-particle, (ii) particle-to-fluid and (iii) wall-to-bed, only the first one has been widely studied and detailed review of the several investigations has been reported earlier by J. J. Barker.1 2 In the other two cases no such survey has been made and an attempt is made here to give a concise report of the investigations available in literature. The report covers references, majority of which deal with the aspects of study of latter two types of mechanisms of fluidized bed heat transfer. Some important industrial applications of fluidized bed heat transfer have also been discussed.en
