Abstract: Electrospinning is a versatile tool for fabricating nanofibers of polymers. It has been widely used as scaffolding material in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. However, it’s application in other biomedical products has not been explored much. Therefore, we have revisited the electrospinning to generate nanofibers for developing diverse micro devices having applications in biomedical field. For instance, we have developed nanofluidic devices using electrospun nanofibers for gas/solute exchange applications. We have also explored the nanofibers for lipid-polymer composite design mimicking corneal membrane for drug screening applications. In another work, we have developed SLIPS surfaces for enhancing the hanging drop method used in the spheroids generations through electrospun nanofibers. In addition, electrospun nanofibers were also used as membrane for developing nanofibrous cell culture inserts for skin tissue culture. Apart from above, we have demonstrated patterning of electrospun nanofibers and nanoparticles on substrate for other applications. Thus, electrospun nanofibers can be used in various other applications by engineers and scientists.
