Abstract: Design of sour-gas treating processes with alkanolamine solvents requires knowledge of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the aqueous acid gas – alkanolamine systems. The modified Clegg-Pitzer equation is used to correlate and predict the vapor-liquid equilibrium of the CO2-AMP-H2O systems Differential evolution (DE), a computationally stochastic technique, has been used for parameter estimation of the developed model in an effort to predict the VLE of CO2 in aqueous AMP solutions with a comparable accuracy to that by using simulated annealing (SA) and deterministic technique like Levenberg-Marquardt (LM), if not better. The DE/rand/1/bin strategy has been used here for finding near global minimum solutions to optimization problems.
