Abstract: This research delves into the modelling of fibre metal laminates (FMLs), exploring their behaviour under both intact and damaged conditions. The core of the study involves the development of a sophisticated simulation model utilising ABAQUS software. The present model encompasses the configuration of a glass fibre-epoxy composite with commercially available aluminium metal laminates. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the simulation, the model's performance was evaluated. This assessment involved scrutinizing the number of elements within the model and comparing its predictions to existing published and experimental data. By conducting these comparisons, the researchers aimed to validate the model's predictive capabilities. Moreover, this research incorporated various parametric analysis to explore the effect of different factors on the laminate’s performance considering damages. The outcomes obtained from this comprehensive approach were thoroughly analysed and discussed. The obtained outcomes were discussed, focusing on the influences of damage (crack) and the number of layers (metal/fibre) on the laminates' behaviour.
