dc.description.abstract | The grid-connected photovoltaic systems (GCPVS) with distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) capabilities play a key role in providing an alternative way of power generation with enhanced power quality (PQ). For GCPVS, a three-phase, single-stage is considered in which local loads are connected at the point of common coupling (PCC). These loads create nonlinearities in the current, which are mitigated by GCPVS, thus enhancing the PQ. For the effective operation of GCPVS in satisfying the load requirement and feeding excess available PV power to the grid, a Weibull Mtransform least mean square (WMLMS)- based control scheme is proposed in this article. This control scheme enables GCPVS to draw maximum power from the PV array, compensate for the load reactive power, load balancing, mitigate load current harmonics, and achieve sinusoidal grid currents at the unity power factor (UPF). However, during night time as PV power is absent, the system performs to operate as DSTATCOM. The GCPVS is developed using MATLAB/Simulink and simulated. The responses of GCPVS during various cases are found satisfactory, and THD of the grid currents are bound to IEEE519-2022 standard. | en_US |
