Abstract: Pure Bi2 W 209 (BWO) and SnS2 (SS) nanomaterials have been prepared by combustion and hydrothermal method, respectively. The hexagonal disk like SnS2 nano plates was anchored over the BWO surface to form a binary heterojunction system. The SnS2 nano disc decorated BWO have been successfully characterized by using analytical techniques like XRD, UV-Vis DRS, FESEM, PL and XPS. The XRD results indicate the formation of highly crystalline phase pure BWO and SnS2. The XRD pattern of Bi2 W 209/SnS2 heterostructure materials contains diffraction peaks of both BWO phase along with the respective diffraction peaks for SnS2. The Biz W 209/SnS2 material showed enhanced visible light response properties in comparison to the pristine BWO and SnS2 components. The band position of the pure BWO and SnS2 components are so suitably aligned that the channelization of photo-generated charge carriers followed Z-scheme pathway leading to improved photo excited charge carrier separation in the Biz W 209/SnS2 composite material. The Biz W 209/SnS2 heterojunction materials exhibited outstanding visible light assisted photocatalytic efficiency towards mineralization (96 %) of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). The comprehensive study of the characterization and photocatalytic activity of the heterostructure materials will be presented at the conference.
