Abstract: This paper comprises the design of fractionalorder proportional–integral (FOPI) controller for dc-dc power converters. Dominant-pole based control technique is used for tuning the parameter values of FOPI controller. To achieve the desired time-domain performances, two equations are derived and solved to obtain values of proportional and integral coefficients of FOPI controller in terms of dominant poles. The control scheme is implemented on second-order power converters, namely dc-dc buck converter and dc-dc boost converter. The simulation results of FOPI controller are compared with integer-order PI (IOPI) controller and it is found that FOPI controller performs comparatively better.
