Abstract: Ferroelectric BaTiO3 (BT) is modified with non-ferroelectric Li0.30Cr0.02Ni0.68O (LCNO) to form (1-x)BT-xLCNO (x=0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) system, synthesized by solid-state reaction method. Calcination and sintering temperatures are optimized at 1100°C (4hours) and 1250°C (4hours), respectively. X-ray diffraction study confirmed a single perovskite phase with tetragonal structure in all LCNO modified ceramic samples. However, the tetragonality was found to decrease with LCNO modification. Relative density and average grain size are found to initially decrease and then again increases with the increase of LCNO content. Dielectric study at room temperature showed an increase in dielectric constant and decrease in dielectric loss values with the increase in LCNO content. Diffusive phase transition is observed in LCNO modified ceramic samples. Transition temperature was found to decrease rapidly with the increase in LCNO content.
