Abstract: In this present investigation, we have synthesized ferrous oxalate nanorod by a modified co-precipitation method using ferrous sulphate, oxalic acid and Cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The prepared ferrous oxalate nanorod was calcined at 550 °C to form rod shaped α-Fe2O3 nanomaterials. The formation, phase analysis, surface morphology of the nanorods was characterized using SEM, EDAX, XRD, & FT_IR analytical techniques. XRD studies confirmed the formation of α-Fe2O3. The SEM and EDAX analysis indicates the formation of rod like nanomaterials and the presence of Fe and O elements. The obtained nanorods were used as catalyst for the photochemical decolorization of toxic organic dye (Malachite Green) from aqueous solution.
