The paper presents the method offinding out the spontaneous heating susceptibility of coal samples by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). 30 coal samples collectedfrom 7 different Indian coalfields have been studied by this method and the onset temperature for all the samples have been determined. In addition, the crossing point temperature (CPT) of all the samples have been determined and a comparative study between onset temperature and CPT has also been presented.en
