Abstract: The rising demand for electrical power and the finite supply of fossil fuels require the use of sustainable energy resources as alternative energy sources. Integrating sustainable energy sources into current power systems presents considerable hurdles to their safe and dependable functioning. The sporadic and erratic characteristics of sustainable energy complicate the provision of a stable power supply to consumers. To address these challenges and provide dependable power distribution, energy storage technologies including batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors are integrated into the system. A hybrid energy storage system utilizes the complimentary attributes of supercapacitors, known for their high-power density, and batteries, recognized for their high energy density, in conjunction with sustainable sources. Effective power management is crucial for regulating power flow and maintaining equilibrium between generation and load demand. This research proposes an energy management method and provides a comprehensive model of a DC microgrid (DCMG). The efficacy of the proposed energy management scheme and system architecture is corroborated by simulation results and several case studies.
