| Abstract: | Under different operational conditions, this work aims to develop and simulate an independent hybrid DC microgrid that will serve an AC load. The system's main component is a photovoltaic (PV) array, which uses a DC – DC Boost converter that uses a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm to link to the DC bus and provide electricity. A bidirectional DC-DC converter is used to bridge a battery energy storage system, which helps with power balancing and keeps the bus voltage stable. To keep a constant DC bus voltage of 48 V, the bidirectional converter is controlled using MPC. To further enhance system reliability during variations in PV output, MPC is also used to operate a fuel cell source that is connected via a DC-DC Converter. To provide a sinusoidal AC voltage to a single-phase induction motor load, a voltage source inverter controlled by a PI controller receives power from the regulated DC bus. After running simulations of the whole system in Simulink, we can see that the motor performance is stable, the DC bus voltage is well regulated, and the power sharing across sources is coordinated. |
