Abstract: This paper examines the destabilizing effect of a DC distributed power system (DPS) with a constant-power load (CPL). We analytically identify the causes of this destabilization and propose a delayed-feedback controller to restore stability. Here, we provide a procedure for designing this delay-feedback controller, which enables the system to track an unstable equilib-rium point, even if the exact location of that point is unknown. Furthermore, we explore the benefits of integrating the delay-difference operator into the PID control scheme. Numerical results indicate that, unlike classical PID controllers, this delay-difference operator not only successfully stabilizes the system’s unstable operating point but also enhances its dynamic perfor-mance by appropriately tuning the delay parameter.
