The necessity of a generalised correlation for the prediction of the pressure drop across a semi-fluidized bed is emphasized. Methods available for calculating the same have been briefly summarized. A correction factor in terms of system variables has been suggested to be applied to the calculated values of the pressure drop. For a few cases the values calculated, using the correction factor, have been compared with the experimental values.en
