| Abstract: | Hastelloy C-276 is high temperature and corrosion resistant superalloy which contained Nickel, Chromium and molybedenum. With cryo-treatment, there is further enhancement of mechanical strength and wear resistance. The application of the Hastelloy C-276 is wider. Few applications are chemical processing component such as preheater, heat exchanger, reaction vessel, transfer pipe, pollution control stack liner, ducts, dumpers, scriber, fan, fan housing, flue gas desulphurization system, waste treatment, pharmaceutical and food processing system and aero-space material etc. Wire-EDM is generally used to produce very complex and intricate shape easily. In the present investigation, wire-EDM of cryo-treated Hastelloy C-276 for straight slot has been carried out with L27 Orthogonal array with consideration of pulse on, pulse off, servo voltage and wire-feed as process parameters. Material removal rate, surface roughness and kerf width are considered as responses. Gray Taguchi Technique has been used to obtain maximum material removal rate, minimum surface roughness and minimum kerf width. ANSYS thermal modelling has been carried out to determine material removal rate and validated with experiment. |
