This study explores a budget-friendly H-plane horn antenna based on a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) based technology for wideband applications. The antenna is designed using FR4 substrate material, which has a thickness of 1.6 mm. A small arc is placed at the front side of the antenna aperture for proper matching with the free space. It is found that the horn antenna can work from 6.39 to 19.15 GHz, which can cover X and Ku – bands. In addition, the flaring angle of the H-plane horn antenna is adjusted to improve the gain. A conventional 50 ohm coaxial probe is used as a feeding element for the antenna. The maximum gain obtained is 6.4683 dB as well as FBR is 22.86 dB.en_US
