Abstract: | This article presents a novel, low-cost, compound (frequency, polarization, and pattern) reconfigurable fractal antenna for wireless communication applications. The simple I-shaped compound reconfigurable fractal antenna (CRFA) contains a radiating patch with two stubs and two triangular extensions incorporated in the ground plane. Six switching elements are integrated into both slots to vary the length of the radiating element to achieve frequency reconfiguration at 2.5, 3.4, 9.7, and 2.2, 3.7 GHz. Simulated results indicate that the developed antenna with a compact size of 42 × 30 × 1.6 mm3 radiates broadside RHCP/LHCP electromagnetic wave in 3.8–4.1 GHz and 9.72–9.89 GHz. |
