Abstract: | In this paper, a high power, simple designed novel multiport converter is proposed, which is helpful for renewable energy integration. A Pico hydro generator and a PV module are taken as input sources and for the load both ac and dc are considered for modeling. To stabilize the dc link voltage level a storage element is also connected with a dual active bridge (DAB) converter. The DAB converter has bidirectional power flow capability as well and provides isolation between the input and output sides; hence, it can be used for the integration of storage devices also. With this proposed converter topology, the PV system can operate at maximum power point (MPP) while keeping the DC link voltage constant by a SEPIC converter. At the same time, the output of the Pico hydro generator is rectified at a voltage level the same as the output of the SEPIC converter used to boost the PV voltage. The simulation of the converter is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software, and all the results are discussed for different operational states. |
