In the present study, an assembly sequence generation for an industrial product is obtained using a genetic algorithm. The assembly sequence generation problem is formulated as an optimization problem, and the genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal solution. For each generated sequence, design for assembly attributes are checked for its feasibility. The proposed method is tested on a five-part product, and the results demonstrate that the genetic algorithm can effectively generate an optimal assembly sequence for the product. Further, it is observed that the generated assembly sequence reduces the overall assembly time and improves the efficiency of the assembly process.en_US
