We examine the impact of hydro energy consumption and political stability, alongside the challenges related to coal energy, on India’s environmental sustainability from 1985 to 2021. Empirical findings show that hydro energy has an insignificant impact on reducing CO2 emissions, coal consumption significantly contributes to CO2 emissions, whereas political stability promotes environmental sustainability. The study recommends implementing policies to address urgent environmental challenges and foster a sustainable future in India.en_US
