Carbon dots (CD) are zero dimensional metal free tiny carbon nanoparticles containing sp2 carbon core and sp3 carbon outer surface. Very few CDs show enhanced laser absorption at NIR region which equip CD as a therapeutic agent. CD can perform as a photosensitizer, can induce hyperthermia which deplete growth of cancer, can be a carrier of photosensitizer and drug molecules due to compatible surface functionalization. On other hand, the advantages of mesoporous silica or hydrogel or carbonaceous composition can be integrated into a single platform which offer large surface area, tuneable pore size and high pore volume for storage of guest molecules. In this presentation, our work on fabrication of functional carbon nanostructures for application as a combinatorial platform for various therapeutic applications will be discusseden_US
