Abstract: Software Defined Radios (SDRs) have emerged as a cost-effective solution for space communications, leveraging adaptable software and affordable hardware. However, the practical implementation of wireless systems requires collaboration among engineers with diverse skills including GNU Radio, MATLAB, Lab-VIEW, HDL, and C/C++. This paper presents successful lab testing of a ground system-based telemetry transceiver prototype using two forward error correction techniques through universal software radio peripheral (USRP) B210 and X310 in the GNU Radio platform to address these issues at the receiver end. Forward error correction techniques, such as reed-Solomon and low-density parity check techniques, are used to combat errors in telemetry transmission, each connecting to a monopole antenna for signal transmission and reception in a wireless medium. In this paper, FEC techniques are implemented according to the CCSDS stan-dard. So, this paper demonstrates an SDR-based telemetry transceiver system using the GNU Radio software platform.
