dc.description.abstract | Effect of Pb2+ substitution on Fe3+ site of Strontium Hexaferrite having nominal composition SrFe12- xPbxO19 (x =0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) is carried out by sol-gel auto-combustion method. X-ray diffraction technique is employed to scrutinize various structural aspects of the prepared systems. Morphology and elemental study are also carried out using Scanning Electron Microscopy. With substitution, average particle size is found to be increased. Surface chemical study using XPS shows mixed valency of iron (Fe2+ and Fe3+). Room temperature field dependent magnetization (M-H) measurement is carried out in the field ranging from -15 KOe to +15 KOe. Coercivity (Hc) increases and saturation magnetization (Ms) decreases with substitution. From the temperature dependent magnetic study (M-T) in Zero Field Cooled (ZFC) approach, characteristics Hopkinson peak is observed just below transition temperature. For better visualization of site symmetry, valence state and magnetic properties, room temperature Mossbauer spectroscopy is carried out which shows that 12k site is the most populated site. | en_US |
