dc.description.abstract | The library is moving beyond the wall and reaching the people. Libraries are growing their collection in the form of hardcopy and digital resources. The user's changing information needs, and modes have made the library adapt all possible technologies that facilitate them in information organization and retrieval. Linked Data focuses on identifying things within the web data and converting them so that machines can understand. Libraries are leading contributors and users of web content. Libraries have Authority Data, Bibliographic Data, etc., that need to be accessible and connect with other resources available over the web. We have given overview of the linked data technologies, HTTP URI, RDF data model and global initiatives of linked data. The paper also focuses on the active participation of libraries and ongoing library initiatives on linked data. | en_US |
