Abstract: Visible light communication (VLC) is a green communication with a high security facility. This necessitates a clean-slate technology for wireless system design, enhancing the existing knowledge on multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO). The ambient noise and interferences cause a major degradation of VLC communication. Different methods have been adopted to eradicate the ambient noise effect. But these methods are limited in operation for multiuser applications and few may cause a reduction in data rate. A novel method of MIMO asymmetrically clipped orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (ACO OFDM) is proposed for time-varying VLC channel, which can eradicate the noise effect as well as increase the data rate. In this paper a VLC communication for a multi-user environment is designed by considering both mathematical and hardware simulation. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated in terms of bit-error rate (BER) and compared with the conventional on-off keying (OOK), and OFDM methods.
