This paper presents a fog based system model for IoT architecture for remote authentication. It ensures that the communicating devices are authentic and reject any malicious requests, securing the communication held between devices. In the proposed architecture, only genuine users can access IoT devices through the nearest fog node. Every time a device associated with a user sends a request, it is varied by the block chain-enabled fog node; thereby, mutual authentication is achieved. Also, the proposed work is compared with some competent schemes and found to achieve security features, such as data integrity, availability, and mutual authentication.en_US
