Abstract: The rapid increase in the aging population brings challenges to elderly people living alone. It becomes more difficult for people living in rural areas. This has created an urgent need for real-time monitoring using internet of things (IoT). In this work, an integrated activity monitoring and support system is proposed which monitors the health parameters like ECG, the oxygen level in the blood, fall detection, and monitors the activity performed by the person. Different wearables are used by the person for monitoring heart diseases. Chest strap for reading ECG signal, Wrist strap for checking the oxygen level in blood and footwear for fall detection. Three modules are integrated to reduce false alarms. For activity monitoring, multiple sensor nodes are placed at different locations in the house. Any abnormality in the parameters triggers a message to the cloud database which alerts the family members, doctor and emergency services. The proposed system is useful for providing on-time medication and assistance
