Abstract: | Development of ideal wound dressing is crucial to facilitate the healing process and for the treatment of a wound for protection against physical, thermal, chemical, biological and other trauma. Hydrogels are being preferred as wound dressings owing to their flexibility, non-antigenicity, and permeability to water, oxygen and metabolites. The present study is focused on development of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (SA) hydrogel, loaded with Calendula officinalis extract and reinforced with activated charcoal to improve its mechanical strength. |
