Abstract: | The machine consists of a frame structure, control system, hydraulic cylinder and the media cylinder. The entire hydraulic system forces the media to flow from one media cylinder to another media cylinder through the workpiece at a particular media flow speed and pressure. The extrusion pressure for a standard AFM process varies from 10 bars to 100-200 bars. The function of tooling and fixture is to position the workpiece and provides direction to the media flow through the workpiece. The fixtures also restricts the abrasion in the area required on the workpiece. The fixture can be simple or complicated depending upon the shape and size of the workpiece. |
