dc.description.abstract | Eminence of any society strongly depends on the progressive and liberal attitude, thinking style and conviction of the people residing in it. As per preamble to the constitution of India, all the citizens are assured of liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith, and equality of status, opportunity, the dignity of life irrespective of class, caste, creed, gender and religion. But in reality this above goal is still far away. As per instance, transgender community is one of the repressed and oppressed communities till date in our country. A transgender is an individual, who identifies with a different gender other than the sex assigned at birth. First official count of transgender people in India was in 2011 census and the number was 5,00000. The present case study throws light on biological, psychological and socio-cultural dimensions in the life and continuous coercive exclusion, discrimination and harassment faced at home, school, college, work place, society at large by parents, family members, relatives, teachers, friends, colleagues, neighbours damage the belief and perception towards life. At this juncture, Rights based Counselling Approach has been established as an effective intervention programme to rescue the meagre Self-concept and to safeguard the Mental health of this particular client. | en_US |
