Abstract: The enormous growth in digital information, advent of new technologies led users to demand for advanced services and facilities from the library. To keep pace with this demand, library professionals need to equip themselves with the latest trends and abreast with all the technologies to fulfill the users' requirements. Libraries also invest huge amount of its budget on various electronic resources every year but sometimes these e-resources are under utilised and must be made discoverable to enhance its usage. In this regard, Resource discovery tools play a prominent role to increase the usage of library resources as an aid to learning and research activities. Along with implementing such tools, there are different perspectives of Issues and Challenges such as People, Content, Process and Tools & Technologies associated need to be taken care of. Also the impact of ICT on libraries, Change in Users’ requirements and Transformation in library services all needs to be dealt properly. This presentation explores on the various opportunities for the LIS professionals in Digital India era. At the end it explains about the trends, issues and challenges for library professionals along with the solutions to overcome the same.
